Tribhuvan University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Mobile Communications Group (MCC), and China Mobile International (CMI) for digital cooperation. The MOU primarily focuses on the construction of dedicated data lines, digital library development, cooperation methods, technical support and training, as well as collaborative research and exchange.
The MOU was signed by the rector, Prof. Dr. Khadga K.C., on behalf of Tribhuvan University. Representatives from CNKI, MCC, and CMI were also present to sign the MOU.
As per the MOU, the first phase of the pilot project aims to establish a digital library for the TU Central Library, with plans to be completed before September, 2024. The second phase aims to establish a digital library and constituent campus network for TU, with plans to be completed by June 2025. The third phase involves the establishment of the Nepal Higher Education Teaching and Technology Network, which will connect all higher education institutions and vocational colleges in Nepal and share digital library resources. This phase is planned to be completed by December 2025.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards enhancing the digital infrastructure and resources of Tribhuvan University, fostering an environment of advanced learning and research.
